(Re)Introduction
Welcome to the new, revamped Gotham Theory website! Things have been quiet
over the past few years but, like the proverbial duck, we have been busy under the
surface. A lot has happened since you heard from us last including babies (2!),
weddings, new jobs, relocations, lineup changes, and new tunes. Amidst all of
these changes, we’ve been hard at work and our newest release, “Things That
Have Happened In Certain Places,” is due to release in the coming month!
Our first album, “Why’d You Break Up With Me?,” released in 2016 and at that
time, the entire lineup was living in Baltimore and able to attend weekly practice
and recording sessions to prepare for live shows in and around the city. Fast
forward four years and we are split between three cities, traversing the rigors of
full-time professional life, enjoying family life, and still making time to write and
record music remotely. Sam Brewer, on drums and vocals, is a proud dad to two
sweet babies, Evie and Ollie, and setting up a new home with his wife, Elizabeth,
in Evansville, Indiana (fun fact, it’s the 3 rd biggest city in Indiana). Stu DePoy,
holding down the bass duties, is living in Philadelphia with his wife, Michelle,
and is hard at work navigating us through the increasingly digital business side of
the music industry. Josh, on guitar and vocals, is still in Baltimore and keeping
busy with mixing the newest recordings with the help of his girlfriend, Orlagh.
The latest recording was tracked in Sam’s studio in New Jersey in mid-August
2019. At that time, we tracked five songs – some old and some new. Finding
ourselves a bit rusty on the mixing side of things, Josh set out to brush up on our
skills and the first song, previously titled “Spy Song,” came together in Spring of
2020. Now, with the song at the mastering stage, we are looking forward to
interacting with you all again and creating new music for you all to enjoy!
